About Us
The Home Builders Association of Northwest Indiana (HBANWI) is a trade association based in Northwest Indiana representing more than 150 members involved in home building, remodeling, multi-family construction, property management, subcontracting, design, housing finance, building products manufacturing, and other aspects of residential and light commercial construction.
The HBANWI is an affiliated association of the Indiana Builders Association (IBA) and the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) from which the Home Builders Association of Northwest Indiana received membership charters for Porter and Lake Counties in Indiana. Membership with the HBANWI also includes membership to the IBA and NAHB.
The Home Builders Association of Northwest Indiana has been granted tax exempt status under Section 501(c)(6) of the U.S. Internal Revenue Code. The HBANWI is governed by an elected Board of Directors which directs policies and operations of the association according to its bylaws. A professional staff is retained to implement association policies and to carry out the work of the association, major elements of which are education and training programs, Continuing Ed training, community relations, governmental affairs and advocacy at the state and national level, casual networking opportunities, and special events.
The Home Builders Association of Northwest Indiana is committed to working with and for our local communities. Our events work to support small businesses and other nonprofits in the area. The goal of the HBANWI is to build our community through affordable housing and supporting local business.
