Founded in 1979, the Home Builders Association of Northwest Indiana (HBANWI) is a trade association representing more than 150 members—and growing daily— engaged in home building, remodeling, multifamily construction, property management, subcontracting, design, housing finance, building product manufacturing, and other facets of residential and light commercial construction across Northwest Indiana.

As a proud affiliate of the Indiana Builders Association (IBA) and the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) the HBANWI holds membership charters for Porter and Lake Counties in Indiana.

The Association operates as a 501(c)(6) nonprofit organization, governed by an elected Board of Directors that establishes policy and oversees operations in accordance with its Bylaws. An Executive Officer supports this work by managing the day-to-day activities of the Association.

Providing a unified approach to development, serves as a powerful voice in shaping local housing policies, and fosters strong networking opportunities throughout the region. By connecting builders, associate members, and community partners, we are dedicated to making a lasting impact—building community one home at a time.
